Chris Place, MD
I grew up in South Louisiana and completed my family medicine residency training at IHI from 1995–1998, followed by an international health fellowship in 1999. My wife Annette and I have six children and one grandchild, and our family has been deeply shaped by a passion for international adoption and medical missions. From 2002 to 2012, we lived in China as medical missionaries—I taught family medicine residents and Annette homeschooled and worked with orphans, all while raising all of our six kids abroad.
We now live on a small acreage with various animals (and thousands of bees). My professional interests include medical ethics, international health, medical education, and mentoring residents. I joined the IHI faculty because I value investing in the next generation of physicians and seeing others answer God’s call to medical missions. I find my deepest joy in walking alongside learners as they grow.
