Mitch Duininck, MD
I grew up in a small farming community in Minnesota. My wife Leah is from Texas, and we met on a blind date in Oklahoma! We have been blessed with six kids – three daughters and three sons – and now have 15 wonderful grandchildren. My initial interest in being a doctor was linked with medical missions. We have been blessed to serve in West Africa and Afghanistan for extended periods of time as a family, as well as many short-term medical trips, including providing medical clinics, educational and spiritual conferences, and responding to humanitarian disasters.
I have been blessed to be involved in medical education for my entire career, teaching medical students and resident physicians. It is a great privilege to share what I have learned with the next generation. I love delivering babies, doing inpatient care, and serving my patients in our outpatient clinic. Integrating faith and medicine and learning how to treat the whole person—spirit, soul, and body—is something I am passionate about. I am honored to serve on the CMDA Board of Directors.
When I’m not practicing medicine and teaching, I can usually be found with my wife and family—we are raising bees and chickens, so that takes some time! I love sports, staying in shape, being outdoors, and hunting and fishing.
