Residency
Encouraged My Passion to Serve
"Addressing
the needs of those who lack access
to quality health care is a passion
of mine.
As I looked into residency programs, I discovered
that In His
Image Family Medicine has that vision,
also. Residency encouraged my passion
to serve as I
helped In His Image and others establish Good
Samaritan
Health Services. GSHS and local churches
now use a mobile medical van
to deliver Christ-
centered health care to the underserved in our city.
I
encourage medical students who have the boldness
to follow their God-given
passion of serving others to
apply to In His Image."

Trained Me Well In Procedures
"In Addition
to spiritual growth, In His Image Family Practice
Medicine has given
me in-depth medical training. We had traditional teaching rounds at the
hospital and one-on-one clinical precepting. One afternoon each week was
devoted to medical lectures, morbidity and mortality presentations, journal
club and board review. I've been well prepared in the sorts of procedures
that are needed in the US as well as overseas. We were given a variety of hands-on
experiences and training from Family Practitioners and numerous sub specialists.
Frequently in our Family Medicine clinic I did exercise treadmill tests, colposcopies and flexible sigmoidoscopies. In the hospital I've done
multiple central lines, delivered numerous babies and performed various
other in-patient procedures. Residents have the option to do elective
rotations and receive extra training in various fields and procedures
of personal interest like C-sections. In His Image has given me the ability
to learn and the encouragement to do so."

Residency Helped Me Grow Spiritually

"In
His Image Family Practice Medicine has helped me grow spiritually as I've
explored God's place for me in ministry and medicine. Worship and devotions
are shared each morning on in-patient service. Each week there is a Bible
study for the residents, attendings and their families. Yearly retreats
focus on both medical and spiritual growth. Throughout residency we can
attend various conferences on integrating our faith into medicine, missions,
marriage, family and singleness. In addition to the focused training, we
have the option of choosing a mentor. I meet with my mentor and discuss
specific challenges I'm facing. She gives me a different perspective and
insight into the situation as someone who has been in my shoes. The
spiritual training at In His Image has really made the difference in my family
practice training." |
